Hollywood Love Scene

Saturday Saturday Saturday!

Oh, what could there be to do in the South Florida musical extravaganza. If you think I'm going to run out of places to go and bands to see on a weekend; You could never be more wrong. This Saturday has a last minute show for Hollywood Love Scene.

Location: Briny Irish Pub in Pompano Beach.

Cost: Free! (look at that... no "I'm broke" excuse")

Time: 9:30pm - 1:45am.

These guys are quite amazing. I've seen them live a few times and one of the times I ventured to see them, they played a very sexy version of Crazy Train. This is on top of all of the very amazing songs that they play.

Make sure you listen to their songs Straight Up and No ordinary girl when you visit their myspace.

Have a good time, lovelies!

Leading the Heroes

Oh goodness gracious! another weekend! I'm giving you all ideas for things to go out and do! so do them!!!

At the lounge this weekend (info on the flyer) Leading the Heroes will be there jamming out and playing some of their new stuff along with some of their stuff off of their album "tear apart the process." Firstly (to show love to the guys), I think they are one of the best bands coming out of south florida today... so they are a must see. Secondly, if you've never been to the lounge, its quite the place to go to. There is a club and sushi! c'mon! how cool is that!?

The show is bound to be awesome. The band is amazing and after the show Dan (whom is a great great guy) is going to be spinning for everyone!

Thats what you get! No cover! Great drinks (the bartenders there have made me a few sheets to the wind on a few occassions) and amazing music!

Check out their myspace to listen to samples of their music. Click here! MS04 is one of my favorite tracks and i have their CD in my car (and in the player) as I type. It's bound to be good.

toodles and information on what to do saturday in the next post!

Slash

Slash - An autobiography co-written by Slash from Guns N' Roses and Anthony Bozza.

This book is very similar to Nikki Sixx's Heroine Diaries. It's full of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. You find yourself thinking, 'There is no way that this really happened!" But as the cover of the book states, "It seems excessive, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen."

The book takes you through the early days of Guns n' Roses and the continuous fights with Axl to the later days when he finally found stability in his life. It's amazing that any of these guys lived with all the drugs and women they were doing. Good read for those who are fans of Guns N' Roses and good read if you are a fan of people who lived a very trashy lifestyle amongst the tarnished glamor of rock.

Enjoy :)

Bell Tower Falls

Places to go? People to see? No?
Well for an idea of where to go this weekend... Check out Atlantic Billiards this Friday Night at 10pm.

You will be able to check out Murder in Motion, Traces of Envy & Bell Tower Falls. This is a rare "all ages" show (which are hard to find in South Florida). $5 cover and "Crazy Deals on Drinks."

I had a chance to have an interview with John from Bell Tower Falls.

Lanna: Have you guys played at Atlantic Billiards before?
John BTF: I can't say we have before. We've heard a lot of positives about the place though. It's gonna be a great show though...$5 to see three bands and play pool? What's better than that?
Lanna: Have you played with Murder in Motion or Traces of envy before?
John BTF: Nope. They're new bands to playing with.
John BTF: Have you ever heard of them?
Lanna: hey! who's doing the interview?
John BTF: lol
Lanna: No i haven't, but I'm sure I'll listen to them soon. But what's it like being on the docket with a band you haven't played with?
John BTF: It's always pretty interesting to see how a band we haven't played with before will flow with our sound. We always listen to the bands we're to play with if they have an outlet to preview their music.
John BTF: But if there are bands playing
John BTF: Then it's all good. I mean,
John BTF: regardless of who we play with, we're all playing for the same purpose, so it's always a relief to find people who share the same passion as you
Lanna: What has BTF been up to? Recording?
John BTF: Well, we've been writing some new material and practicing pretty rigorously. We're planning to send our demos (selling for $5) to record labels so we can get into a studio and record an actual EP in an actual studio sometime soon. But that costs good amounts of money lol
Lanna: Yes... it does.. So any closing words?
John BTF: Come check us out on myspace! Come out to our shows! You'll have a great time, hear some wicked music, and thanks to everyone who's helped us so far. Let's keep it up!
John BTF: Also, we're selling demos for $5 and we'll be selling shirts by the end of Jan/end of Feb
Lanna: Awesome stuff.

Lanna: Thanks so much John
John BTF: <3 Any time ^^

Anyway! Check it out everyone!!!

The Heroin Diaries

Every Tuesday I'm going to try and give an update on music that isn't necessarily audio music. a Band's biography that they recently released or a singular musician's biography.

Now! For today's non audio music fun.

The Heroin Diaries (for official website, click link)..
This bit of interesting was written by the bassist for Motley Crue. This was written in 1986 when Nikki Sixx was coked out of his mind and on any other drug he could get his hands on. He would write in these journals and diaries when he was the most messed up... little pieces of paper... what ever.

The book reads like a comic book of delusions and back and forth commentary between people who were there to witness the events that took place in the diaries... people such as his band mates, his mother and sister, his grandfather and this one annoying woman named Vanity who turned into an evangelist later in life.

The book is an interesting read for the slightly demented...
The soundtrack is wonderful as well for those who loved the lyrical content that Sixx helped with Crue... I also find it amusing that a book has a soundtrack.

For a sample... this is the song "Life is Beautiful" from the soundtrack

Much of the art in the video is featured in the book. Warning: This book is not for all ages. Reader discretion is advised.

Until next time

Welcome: Bright Shiny and New

So everyone knows exactly what it feels like... Well... anyone who has been to a concert or a show.

Its that feeling that makes your breath catch in your throat as you wait anxiously for your singer or your band to hit the stage. How will they do it? Start your favorite song right off the bat as they run on stage? Have a curtain drawn and open it as they start out with a relatively unknown song. Or will they rise through the stage... their top hit filling every crevice of your mind as you start to sing along in your head or as loud as your lungs can carry. Its like touching a battery and allowing the jolts scream through your veins as you jump up and down to the beat. Your heart takes the beat of a different rythmn.

Concerts are the essence of life in mass.

There is something about a favorite band and seeing them walk on stage that makes your smile one a bright day a mockery of what you feel at that moment.

As a hot topic slogan says "Music = Life."

Locally there is an abundance of shows that give you a more intimate experience.
You can be in a venue where the lead singers sweat just sprayed across your face as he rocks his/her body hard to beat of the song. Yum (joke..).

The Eagles will be playing on January 26th @ 8pm. at The Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise.
Ticketing Information is available here.

If you've never heard of The Eagles (shame on you... you must click on the video its not an option) or you just love the song, here is "Hotel California."

Ta Ta for now lovelies.
